Accomplished pianist, composer, singer, director, educator,
and producer…these
are just a few of the titles that could precede the name
of Jeremiah Murphy. But his
most cherished title is that of born-again Christian.
A native of Washington,
D.C., he is a product of the D.C. Public School System
and received his bachelor's and master's degrees from
the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music. The influence
of this extensive training is reflected in his original
compositions, which are a composite of Classical influences
as well as the African America Gospel sound. Choirs and
soloists have performed his compositions across the United
States and abroad.
A sought
after workshop clinician, Jeremiahhas appeared with several noted gospel artists.
He performed
one of his compositions with David Murray's Deep
River Gospel Choir at the North Sea Jazz Festival in The
Hague, The Netherlands. He is currently the founding
director of Voices Of Praise a mass choir composed of
members from various Seventh Day Pentecostal Churches.
Jeremiah holds memberships in the Gospel
Music Workshop of America Gospel Announcers Guild and
the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences
and the Gospel Music Association.
Gifted with a unique speaking voice, he hosted radio
programs and has performed voiceovers and commercials for
numerous products. He is a teacher of vocal music at Largo High School in Prince
George's County, Maryland and directs the internationally
renowned Largo High School Choir. In recognition of his
exemplary performance as a teacher, he was awarded the prestigious
Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award in 1997 presented
by the Washington Post Newspaper.
Jeremiah's
skills as a composer, keyboardist, singer, and arranger
were showcased in his debut release on the EMA Music
label entitled, "INTRODUCTION". "ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE"
his second project, includes the showcasing of his skills as
a producer. "WORSHIP" his newest release, encompasses all

JUDAH, it also provides a glimpse into his heart for
divine fellowship. He is president and CEO of EMA Music,
Incorporated.
Although
Jeremiah's music credits are extensive, he enjoys serving God
in various capacities. He is an ordained Minister of the
Gospel at the Leading
Commandment Church in the nation's capitol, where for
more than fifteen years he was the teacher of the church's
weekly Bible Class. He still serves as one of the Minister's
of Music. His abilities have earned him the admiration of
many audiences in this country and overseas. Grateful to God for
all his gifts, he
is willing to share these blessing in proclaiming the Gospel
of Jesus Christ.
